It’s long been thought that rich people live different lives from poor people and that those differences are obvious at all times of the week, including weekends. But do rich people really have better weekends than poor people? Is it true that rich people play golf and go to black-tie events on the weekend while poor people are just as likely to be binge-watching TV shows or partying all night? Or is this a myth? Let’s take a look at some research and see what we can find out about the differences between rich and poor people’s weekends if any.

A typical weekend for people in lower-income brackets

Most people in lower-income brackets work long hours during the weekdays, so they use their weekends to catch up on sleep and spend time with family. For many, weekends are also a time to do chores around the house and run errands. For some, leisure activities like going out to eat or to the movies are a rare treat that they can only afford on special occasions.

A typical weekend for people in higher income brackets

Most people in higher income brackets enjoy weekends that are quite different from their weekdays. They may sleep in later, take part in leisure activities, and spend time with family and friends. For many, weekends are a time to relax and recharge before another workweek begins.

A typical weekend for the upper class (such as celebrities)

The rich usually have a lot more money to spend on their weekends than the average person. They often take luxurious vacations, dine at the finest restaurants, and shop at the most exclusive stores. In short, they live it up!

Why do we care so much about what the rich do?

We often look at the rich and wonder how they got there. We see their lavish lifestyles and assume that they must have done something extraordinary to achieve such wealth. The truth is, most rich people didn’t get there overnight. They worked hard for years, making sacrifices along the way, to get where they are today. So what do they do with all their money? A lot of them actually don’t spend much at all. They save and invest their money wisely, which is something we can all learn from. As for how they spend their weekends, it’s not much different from how the rest of us do. They may have more expensive hobbies, but at the end of the day, we’re all just looking for ways to relax and enjoy our time off. Whether you live in an upper-class neighbourhood or an average one, odds are your weekend routine looks similar to those who live on Park Avenue.

Some interesting results

A study conducted in 2016 found that there are some significant differences between how rich and poor people spend their weekends. For example, the study found that poor people are more likely to spend their weekends doing chores, while rich people are more likely to spend their weekends relaxing or pursuing leisure activities. The study also found that poor people are more likely to watch television on their weekends, while rich people are more likely to go out to eat or visit friends. These findings suggest that there may be some truth to the stereotype that rich people have more fun on their weekends than poor people do.

How can you make your weekend better, regardless of your budget?

If you’re feeling like your weekends are falling short, there are a few things you can do to turn them around. First, take inventory of what you have and what you can realistically use or accomplish. If you have kids, involve them in the planning so they feel like they’re a part of the process. And finally, don’t be afraid to ask for help from friends or family. They may be more than happy to assist you in making your weekend great.
