Making efforts to reach your goals only goes so far. It’s how you see results that really matter. In order to be successful at anything, you have to show up every day and do the work it takes to get to your ultimate destination. You can’t expect to be successful without putting in the effort required to get there. What’s more important than making effort, however, is making sure that effort actually has an impact on your life and gets you closer to where you want to be.
Stop Trying
As you’re working to improve yourself, there will be a lot of things that seem like they take a lot of effort. No more excuses. From now on, only do those things that show actual results, not just efforts. While you may work hard at something, if it doesn’t give you any rewards or pay off in some way, it isn’t worth your time and energy. Don’t let yourself get caught up in useless activities that aren’t giving you anything back. When someone asks you how much time and energy you put into something, don’t tell them how much effort you made—tell them how many results it produced.

That will bring out your best results. And don’t forget to savor your progress along the way, because no matter how much time and effort you invest in learning something new, there will always be a payoff at some point in time. Don’t worry if others around you seem more successful than you are right now; remember that they started somewhere too.
Focus on Outcomes, Not Actions
In other words, goals should always be focused on concrete outcomes — what you want to achieve — instead of actions or behaviors. You may set a goal to lose 20 pounds, but that won’t get you anywhere if you don’t also focus on how you’re going to achieve that goal. Just putting it out there and hoping for results isn’t going to work. Goals with no action plan are just dreams; focus your energy on creating a specific plan for achieving your outcome. Here’s an example: If your goal is to lose 20 pounds in six months, then break down your weight loss into weekly goals.
Your Body Does Everything For You. All You Have To Do Is Guide It.
Your body has its own wisdom, knowledge, and experience. It knows exactly how much food it needs to perform at its best and what type of fuel (e.g., protein) it prefers to burn efficiently. By eating right for your blood type you can tap into your body’s intelligence and let it work for you instead of against you to become leaner, stronger, healthier, more energetic, and focused with minimal effort on your part. The key is to listen to your body and eat accordingly. Once you do that, you will see results, not efforts!
Don’t Wait for Perfect Conditions
There’s no such thing as perfect conditions. If you wait until they appear, you’ll likely never act on your idea. Instead, find ways to work around obstacles and continue moving forward. Perfectionists often lament that they don’t have enough time to pursue their goals—and yet those same people consistently overestimate how long things will take them. Don’t fall into that trap. Take action now, with what you have available to you right now, and make adjustments along the way. It might not be pretty at first, but keep going until it gets better. And even then, keep going some more.
Embrace Failure as a Part of Success. Fail Forward!
Failing happens to everyone. Acknowledging that it’s ok and learning from our mistakes allows us to keep going and not feel defeated by a failure, but rather embrace it as part of being successful. It’s better to fail forward than look back at what we did wrong. When we embrace failure, we understand that in order to grow and succeed there will be times when things don’t go as planned. In fact, if you’re doing everything right and you aren’t failing occasionally then you are probably not taking enough risks. As long as you are trying new things, pushing yourself outside your comfort zone, and making an effort to learn from your failures then each one will lead you closer to success.
